Teaching Philosophy

I believe that all children are unique and should have an educational environment in which they grow physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and socially. In my classroom I want my students to feel welcome and safe. It is my desire to create an atmosphere where students feel comfortable enough to share ideas and take risks. I believe that all students have a right to learn and feel like they have a purpose in my classroom. In my classroom, I will aim to incorporate Social-Emotional Learning because of the positive benefits. Setting the students up with the skills of goal setting, asking for help, and even empathy are vital for their social emotional, and academic growth.

Overview of Curriculum

I believe that in order for a person to grow they need to be provided with acceptance and empathy. Practicing self-awareness while I am teaching is something I would like to engage my students in, showing them authentically how to deal with one’s own emotions. Setting students up for success in dealing with their emotions will only benefit them in the long run. In my classroom, I would love for my students to be able to speak their minds and express themselves.
